A newly-unearthed concert video of a Van Halen performance from 1984’s Monsters of Rock Tour from Donington Leicestershire, England is being hailed as a “…significant… important and a… Holy Grail Gem... ” of a video recording. The audio synch could use some work.
The source of the footage remains unclear, but given the access afforded the camera operator, it must have been approved by the band at the time.
According to Van Halen News Desk VHND, this footage has never been shared before, but appears to have lacked accompanying audio – and has therefore been carefully sync’d with the pre-existing bootleg fan audio of the set.
The highlight of the set being an almost 10 minute long classic, burner-solo from Eddie Van Halen at (45:15) AND includes the only know footage of Eddie’s guitar tech Rudy Leiren introducing the band in front of a crowd of 65,000 which saw VH share a bill with the likes of AC/DC, Mötley Crüe, Ozzy Osbourne and Gary Moore.
