Panhead Custom Ales, based in Wellington, has called the custom-made vending machine ‘Slay to Pay’
They state on their Instagram page: Introducing Panhead Slay to Pay. A world-first vending machine from little ol’ Aotearoa that lets you pay for our beer, by ‘slaying’ guitar.
They also reveal that the machine uses AI fingerprinting to rate guitarists’ ability – and it’s not the easy setting on Guitar Hero.
Rebecca Sinclair, who is Panhead Custom Ale’s head of brand and creative said, “It’s essentially a souped-up Guitar Hero for adults. As far as we know, this is a first-of-its-kind machine with some pretty cool new tech and the best kind of reward for those willing to give it a go.”
Sinclair also explained (in an article on The Drink Business.com) about the Slay to Pay vending machine – “The machine was the perfect combination of a couple of our favourite things, cold beer and really loud music. We gave it its first run at the Panhead Rolling Stone Music Awards and it turns out it’s pretty ruthless. It rejected some of the best guitarists in the country.”
