There is apparently a reason (for myself and other six-year-old children) that “darts” rhymes with “farts”.
A) It’s Funny.
B) It was a less than ‘hygienic’ tactic used recently during a competitive darts match.
It happened (repeatedly) during a match between Darren Webster (non-farter) and Ron Meulenkamp (alleged dart-farter).
The veteran (Webster) won his first game of the evening but lost his next match but (or butt) then opened up a 3-0 lead against Meulenkamp before the Dutch pro rallied and claimed a narrow win. Unfortunately that was the only thing Ron ‘Pooper’ Meulenkamp “claimed” that night.
Webster clearly wasn’t a happy man after the defeat as he would go on to explain on Facebook.
“Well when you play a guy who farts and stinks the stage out and denies it then kick you when your playing the stall (sic) every throw because they are s*** good luck for the future but I’m not interested rant over.”
Despite raising a stink to the governing body, unfortunately there are no specific rules that govern the use of in-match flatulence and dropping bombs (not the heavy darts sometimes used) during competition.
So unfortunately for Webster even after his online bluster and hot air, like a fart in the wind, the dispute lingered and faded away without resolution… silently.
Fair to say Darren Webster wasn’t happy with his opponent Ron Meulenkamp after losing 4-3 from being 3-0 up in the @MSSdarts pic.twitter.com/7n8DyRybWO
