Mötley Crüe released their latest single “Dogs Of War,” last Friday via their new partnership with Nashville’s Big Machine Records. The official music video and lyric video were released as well, you can check them out below.
Per Blabbermouth, the band’s lead singer Vince Neil described the track in an interview with Billboard as a blend of old school and new school vibes. “Nikki came up with it and he sent me the music and I thought it was really cool,” he said. “So I started singing it and we got in the studio and it turned into the song I think the fans are really gonna like it.”
Neil also talked about their desire to continue to put out new music “so we don’t get stagnant.” He said, “There’ll definitely be new music out next year, for sure, cause we recorded a couple of other songs too. Maybe we’ll release one of those by the end of the year, but I can’t say. But we want to keep putting out new music – not, maybe, an album but a few songs here, a few songs there, and that’s good.”
The producer of the song, who also produced the band’s 1989 album Dr. Feelgood shared his experience recording “Dogs Of War” saying, “Working with the band on the new song was the easiest session I have ever had with them… The Crüe is the best they have ever been! And they have plenty of new stuff in store.”
As far as working with Nashille’s Big Machine, Neil told Classic Rock, “It’s a great match for us. We’re good friends with [Big Machine found/CEO] Scott Borchetta, who put together the ‘Nashville Outlaws’ album back in 2014. His company just knows radio, how to get it out there, how to get the right people listening.”
Per Blabbermouth, Crüe’s guitarist John 5 also partnered with Big Machine for his 2021 album Sinner.
“It’s always great getting back in the studio with the guys in the band,” said Crüe’s bassist Nikki Sixx. “We know you’re gonna like this one.”
