I thought (from personal experiences at the N.E.W. Zoo) that giraffes liked to eat leafy greens – but apparently they’re built a bit different in Texas as a giraffe at a Texas drive-thru safari experience seems to have a taste for toddlers.
Video of a crazy scene just hit the net of a giraffe snatching a 2-year old girl from her parents at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Texas on Saturday.
The giraffe picked up a toddler (Paisley Toten) – pulling the kid completely out of the vehicle before letting her drop – like a wildlife version of the claw game. Congrats! You win your daughter – back in the car safely – only slightly traumatized.
Paisley’s father, Todd Toten, told local media, “Paisley was holding the bag and the giraffe went to go get the bag, not get her, but ended up getting her shirt too and picking her up.”
For her traumatic experience, young Paisley wound up getting a stuffed giraffe at the gift shop.
Despite the incident, the Toten family says they enjoyed the visit to Fossil Rim and plan to return sometime.
