I honestly look forward to the annual, local news “Fireworks Safety” report every year.
As soon as the calendar flips to July you can expect a news package involving sparklers, firecrackers, M80’s and a bucket of sand and/or water to beam condescending “safety tips” into your (supposedly) empty skull.
I don’t know if it’s the delivery of the reporter – basically telling the viewer (in no uncertain terms) that they’re devoid of any common sense or the patronizing tone of the “celebrate safely” people but mostly I tune in for the overly-aggressive blowing/melting body parts off innocent mannequins demonstrations from the local fire department – I could literally watch for hours.
And do you honestly think there’s someone watching that thinking, “Gee I never thought holding a roman candle in my mouth could be dangerous…”?
So in the interest of public safety here’s the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s classic PSA titled “Don’t be a Dummy Firework Safety”.
