The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has certified AC/DC’s 1980 album, Back in Black, 26-times platinum.
This ties it for the third biggest selling album in the U.S. with the Eagles‘ Hotel California.
The top two albums are the Eagles’ Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) at 38-million, and Michael Jackson‘s Thriller at 34-million.
Back in Black is AC/DC’s first album with singer Brian Johnson who they hired after the 1979 death of Bon Scott.
Speaking of the former AC/DC front man, Scott would’ve turned 78 today (7/9).
