When you hear of a police standoff you imagine a very tense situation where the lives of not only citizens but the officers on site are in peril.
This was not one of those. In fact, there wasn’t any human involved in the standoff… it was a turkey.
Audio posted on Fond du Lac radio station KFIZ’s You Tube page, captures the amusing back-in-forth conversation between dispatch and a couple Wisconsin State Patrol Troopers.
The winged standoff took place near the intersection of Evergreen Drive and Haymeadow Avenue in Grand Chute.
The “aggressive” turkey ran a fowl of the law by hampering traffic, assaulting an officer (pecking at the tires of the patrol car) and resisting arrest by fleeing the scene into a residential neighborhood where the citizens were “warned” to shelter in place.
The feathered scofflaw is described as male, wearing black and red, sporting a short beard, about two feet tall and deceptively fast.
Wonder if he answers to the name “Tom”?
