Achievement gaps by race grow worse in the Appleton Area School District

APPLETON, Wis–Standardized test scores for white students in Appleton schools continues to be far above those of minority students. That is despite a stated goal by the district to close those gaps.

Superintendent Greg Hartjes says the differences between whites and other students in grade schools actually got worse………….

Hartjes thinks a new approach may be needed………..

Reading scores for white students are 38% higher than Black students and 25% better than Hispanic students. In math, the gaps are 43% and 29% respectively.
