Ex-Ozzy Osbourne and Badlands guitarist Jake E. Lee was shot multiple times while walking his dog early Tuesday morning in Las Vegas. According to the Las Vegas police department, the shooting was random and took place at 2:42 AM. In a statement, Lee’s rep confirmed the shooting.
“Lee is fully conscious and doing well in an intensive care unit at a Las Vegas hospital. He is expected to fully recover,” the statement continued. “Las Vegas authorities believe the shooting was completely random and occurred while Lee took his dog out for a walk in the early morning hours. As the incident is under police investigation, no further comments will be forthcoming. Lee and his family appreciate respecting their privacy at this time.”
While no arrests have been made there is an ongoing investigation.
Ozzy himself also released a statement about his former guitar player.
“It’s been 37 years since I’ve seen Jake E. Lee, but that still doesn’t take away from the shock of hearing what happened to him today. It’s just another senseless act of gun violence. I send my thoughts to him and his beautiful daughter, Jade. I just hope he’ll be OK.”
Jake E. Lee was Ozzy’s lead guitar player after the death of Randy Rhodes, he played on two albums, 1983’s Bark at the Moon and 1986’s The Ultimate Sin. Two of his best-known songs are “Bark at the Moon” and “Shot in the Dark.”
