Sure we all want our bathrooms to smell like a field of wildflowers but that’s no excuse to actually turn your toilet tank into a flower box.
Yep, we’re talking toilet flowers.
Well, there’s a social media trend where people are putting freshly cut flowers inside their toilet tank.
This isn’t some whimsical, crafty repurposing of a discarded non-functional toilet. This isn’t even a display on top of the toilet. Nope. Instead, they’re removing the tank lid and filling the tank with flowers in a functional porcelain throne.
This quirky idea went viral thanks to Social Media Influencer @thedailynelly (below), who claimed it would “leave your guests speechless.”
It certainly left me searching for words.
But while you may think it looks and smells pretty, plumbers say don’t do it: “From an owner of a plumbing company, DO NOT do this. Unless of course, you are looking for more opportunities to support your local plumber.”
It could cause costly clogs, not to mention the fact that the toilet water is already sketchy, and if you remove the tank lid, more germy stuff will get in there.
Bottom line: If you want flowers in your bathroom, just put them in a vase, not in the tank.
