We are proud to name as this week’s Laura Lee and Cutter Weenie of the Week, The Wausau City Council. In mid May the City Council agreed to sell three city-owned lots to a man named Gunthar Nowak, who had indicated via an application plans to build a duplex. According to records, the city originally purchased the property for $23,000, and now the city council has approved this sale of the property for just $1000. That in of itself could be enough to earn Weenie status, but this gets better. A lot would have to be done to the property to get it up to code for environmental purposes and get it out of the floodplain. Maybe the city just wanted nothing to do with it? We don’t know, what we do know is that they were happy to take the loss and sell the property to someone who had promised to develop housing on it. As city council president Lisa Rasmussen stated, it was a chance for taxes to be paid on the property. And she really supported the sale of this property, which should be noted as of right now is an abandoned warehouse in an area that looks pretty rundown. There is one problem though. Somehow, it slipped through the cracks that Gunthar Nowak is actually a 17-year-old boy. A minor, a kid, a wee babe, a juvenile, someone old ladies call the cops on during Small town crime waves. The city was about to sell property to a kid who was paying for it with his allowance! Either this kid is a genius and trying to make a quick buck or someone on the council was in on this? Tinfoil hat removed. After learning of all this, the Mayor of Wausau, Doug Diny, vetoed the sale, at first because of the deep discount of the sale, but then after learning of the age of the buyer.
So for being about as qualified to do their jobs as Homer Simpson was as the safety guy for a nuclear powerplant.
For being so terrible at detective work that it would make Columbo weep
And for probably needing to go to a remedial summer math program
We are proud to name the Weasley Wausau City Council as this week’s Laura Lee and Cutter Weenie of the Week.
