If you’ve ever been at the local grocery store and wondered about the intelligence of people who can’t seem to find the cart coral – maybe it isn’t about smarts so much but instead skill that’s keeping carts on the outside.
There’s a German game show that has contestants showcase their shopping cart skills – where the point of the game is to roll the cart into the coral – in other words – cart archery or “cartery” if you’re into the whole “brevity thing”.
From what I can determine, contestants have eight or acht rounds to accurately shove their carts – der Einkaufswagen – into the coral – like a soccer shoot out – only more interesting.
I know the 25-cent incentive at Aldi (also German) seems to work better than any other local supermarket in terms of putting the carts where they belong rather than the free-range parking lot cart system that seems to propagate area stores. So let’s look to Germany for some inspiration in this case.
I will admit that as much “Supermarket Sweep” as I’ve watched in my life (don’t judge) this would be right up my alley or aisle as it would be.
Watching German shopping cart archery can be very satisfying. pic.twitter.com/YY2XuELga5
