Culinary students in Mexico in conjunction with the USMEF (United States Meat Export Federation) have managed to break not one, not two, but THREE world records as they attempted to serve the most tacos in one hour.
About 100 students used a 23-foot frying pan (that’s World Record #1) to make what became being the world’s largest stir-fry (World Record #2) at this year’s La Discada Festival.
The cooks served up and served a whopping 13,215 tacos in one hour (World Record #3) using a recipe called la discada, containing sausage, beef, pork, bacon, tomatoes, peppers, onions and beer.
The record-breaking stir-fry took three minutes and 40 minutes to cook over a wood fire and yielded an incredible 5331 pounds of food.
That was more than enough to feed the festival’s 10,000 attendees. But it also yielded several hundred leftover tacos which were donated to to local food banks. Which could be another world record – most tacos donated to local food banks.
