First we must say congratulations to Judas Priest front man and Metal God, Rob Halford on getting married to his long time partner.
Halford described it as a “very simple ceremony” and added,
“Is marriage important? I leave that up to you. You decide whether you think a piece of paper is valuable. In some cases, it is — it’s extremely valuable.
But for us to tie the knot, it’s just nice. It’s just a nice thing. It seems like you’ve completed something in your relationship, more than anything else. The commitment goes to another level when you get married. It’s a great thing to do. And if it doesn’t work, that’s life. But I think after being together for 35 years, it’s working.”
Now onto why we’re hear, heavy metal! For the final Ozzy and Black Sabbath show, Judas Priest couldn’t make it. That hurt the beast that is the priest as both bands were very close, and both bands come from the same hometown of Birmingham, England, which is where ‘Back to the Beginning’ took place. So to pay tribute Judas Priest recorded their version of the Black Sabbath classic “War Pigs.”
Here’s what Halford told our friend Full Metal Jackie about Sharron getting Ozzy to be on the song as well:
“She approached me with this idea, she said, ‘I love your version of ‘War Pigs.’ Is there a way we can get Ozzy?’ I was [like], ‘You’re asking me? This is gonna happen.'”
“So you get Ozzy singing a line and then I’m singing a line and Ozzy’s singing a line and I’m singing a line. It’s the first ever time in my entire life that I’ve been able to do a duet with Ozzy and I’m so eternally grateful and blessed that I was able to do that.”
Now that version of the song is out and all proceeds will be going to charity. Specifically to Glenn Tipton’s Parkinson’s Foundation and Cure Parkinsons.
For fun here’s the tribute version they originally recorded for ‘Back to the Beginning.’
