Retired WFRV meteorologist and former WAPL morning show fixture Tom Mahoney has died. He was 75.
Mahoney was with WFRV in Green Bay for 31 years until his retirement in June of 2013, many of those years serving as the station’s Chief Meteorologist. In that role he also became a large part of WAPL’s morning shows over those years and enduring the verbal hijinks of Rick McNeal during the station’s morning weather broadcasts. Tom was also the subject of a morning show promotion allowing listeners to touch his toupee which he had publicly stopped wearing. Mahoney also was ordained as a deacon in 2009 and served at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral and St. John the Evangelist in Green Bay.
