“Welcome to the morons of Yellowstone…” this is the v/o beginning of a recent video taken in Yellowstone Park where a tourist (see Touridiot) who decided that he wanted to turn the National Park into his personal petting zoo and attempted to feed a buffalo/bison.
Attempted being the key word here.
And before you ask, YES, there are specific rules in place to prevent / dissuade people from doing exactly what this man attempted. The National Park Service warns visitors to stay at least 25 yards away from these animals because… death or serious injury.
But with all rules they are meant to be broken (or ignored) most of the time to the detriment of the breaker.
Fortunately (?) the man did not suffer injury the as a result of his blatant ignorance.
Unfortunately this particular scene could not be used as an example of what happens when you ignore park rules.
In a related “wrong place/wrong time incident also at Yellowstone… on July 28th… a group of tourists including children found themselves dangerously close to a bison off the geyser path. The bison suddenly charges, knocking a second man to the ground who put himself in harm’s way in order to lift the child out of the path of danger.
