GREEN BAY, Wis. — Criminal charges are filed in connection with a fatal crash along Interstate 43 on Thanksgiving night.
Cheryl Mitchell is facing counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and causing injury by intoxicated use of a vehicle in Brown County Court.
According to the criminal complaint, Mitchell was drinking before getting onto I-43 heading in the wrong direction in Denmark. She collided head-on with a minivan, killing a 37-year-old Two Rivers man and injuring the driver and another passenger.
Mitchell has one previous OWI conviction dating back to 1989.
She faces up to 85 years in prison if convicted.
