The first teaser for “The Ballad of Judas Priest” has just been unleashed (in the East). The documentary co-directed by Tom Morello that promises to dive deep into the history, conflicts, and legacy of Judas Priest.
The film covers the band’s 50-year history, from their roots in Birmingham to their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.
The film will cover their origins in the English working class, their influence on global heavy metal, and also Rob Halford’s personal journey, showing how the band broke cultural and social barriers within rock.
The doc taps such luminaries as: Jack Black, Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Grohl, Billy Corgan, Scott Ian, Rob Halford, Kirk Hammett, Scott Travis, Darryl McDaniels, Elizabeth ‘Lzzy’ Mae Hale and more on their reverence for The Priest.
All of it through the political and combative lens that defines Morello.

The doc just had it’s festival debut at the Berlin International Film Festival in Germany this past weekend and is scheduled to premiere in the U.S. and wider international release in the first part of 2026.
