On January 30th, 1976, Rock N’ Roll Hall of Famers released their 3rd album, Run With The Pack. That makes 2026 the 50th anniversary of another hugely successful release from what was once called just a supergroup band. To celebrate, lead singer Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke took to YouTube and gave a behind-the-scenes look at the album and shared a few stories. Including their own Spinal Tap moment about trying to use the Rolling Stones mobile recording truck,
“We got a phone call saying we are at the gate, but the truck is too wide to come through the gates. The driveway was a quarter of a mile long, so we couldn’t snake the wires up to the house. So, we just made a phone call to Swan Song Records, and] they rented another villa with gates that could accommodate the Rolling Stones mobile unit, and we recorded it there and stayed in the villa that we had already rented. So, next time, bring a tape measure.”
In 2017, the band remastered the original album, and as we learn more about it, you might as well check out a live performance of the title track before you move on to something else.
