Something I love is digging into what music your favorite band listens to.
Most of the time its a deep dive into some older bands that inspired them on the road to where they are. But its also about what current bands they’re listening to. The most recent example of this is Dave Grohl and his current music obsession.
Grohl was being interviewed by Alternative Nation: Logan Sounds Off and when asked, “if there’s any music he’s currently listening to that inspires him or that he would recommend to others” Grohl immediately named the Quebec-based experimental rock duo Angine de Poitrine.
Grohl: “It completely blew my mind… It’s all instrumental. (showing a video to host Logan) That person has a double neck. That’s a bass guitar on the bottom and a guitar on the top. And you’ll see the bank of pedals that they’re stepping on. And they’re looping every one of these riffs. It’s so completely insane.”
Known for their signature polka-dotted outfits, Angine des Poitrines have recently taken the internet by storm. Ahead of the release of their sophomore album “Vol II,” the band stopped by KEXP in February for a blistering performance that has already racked up nearly 8 million views on YouTube.
