LAMARTINE, Wis. — The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting resulting in the death of a 2-year-old child.
Deputies were dispatched to Lamaratine for a report of a young child who had a gunshot wound at a nearby home around 10:26 a.m. Friday. Life-saving efforts began within minutes, but investigators say the child died at the scene.
The sheriff’s office says three children were in a car in the driveway of their home while a parent went inside the building. A 4-year-old found the gun in the car’s center console. The gun fired, striking the 2-year-old.
The incident remains under investigation.
