We are proud to name as this week’s Laura Lee and Cutter Weenies of the week, both Wild Tomato Pizza and Wild Man pizza in Door County
Wild Tomato gave the first blow when a sign went up for Wild Man Pizza. Marc Sagorac, the owner of Wild Tomato Pizza, wondered what was going on. How is there another pizza joint in the Door with wild in the name and sent a cease and desist. According to Marq, he did try to reach out but didn’t get an answer. Obviously, because Wild Man was too busy being..wild.
But is it really too similar? Ok, they are both pizza places yes. And they both start with the word wild, but if that’s a problem, someone call up The Wild Thing Ricky Vaughn cause we’re going to need a fastball to the head to understand all this. So they both have wild, they both do pizza, but Wild Man Pizza is pizza AND Barbeque! Wild Tomato has a little red tomato guy with eyes and a Mohawk as a logo, Wild Man Pizza has a drawing of a man with eyes and hair that is wild, but not a Mohawk as a Logo. Wild Tomato is a wood-fired grill, Wild Man Pizza is just a grill and BBQ. And the wild man pizza owner’s daughter says the claim that they are the same is ridiculous. She and her mom called the owner a wild man while he made his homemade pizza. That’s why it’s Wild Man, so as you can see, that is not the same as Wild Tomato..
Now both side will have their day in court, and this story has gone viral on TikTok, which is good for Door County. I was tired of the only thing going viral from Door County being those damned goats.
Who’s right and who’s wrong? Who knows?
But for bringing more attention to Door County than that cherry pie Christmas movie
For…. somewhere along the line, they both decided the real secret ingredient… was lawyers
And for…. turning this pizza rivalry into a full on …. crust-ody battle.
We are proud to name the wild pizza fighters of Door County as this week’s Laura Lee and Cutter Weenies of the week.
