Julien’s Auctions Music Icons sale was held this past Friday and Saturday at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York.
Highlight guitars were those that once belonged to the late Ace Frehley and (the also late) Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Frehley‘s 1975 Gibson Les Paul, was estimated to sell for between $400- and $600,000, and the hammer came down at $512,000.
Other items of Frehley’s that were sold above their original estimates:
- Super Bowl XXXIII stage played 1997 Gibson Signature Les Paul Custom – $57,600.
- Stage played 1996 KISS reunion tour light show Sanchez Custom Gibson Les Paul Jr. – $57,600.
- Stage-worn Destroyer costume – $51,200.
- Ace Frehley/Arthur Kane of The New York Dolls stage worn jumpsuit – $11,520.
- His 1977 Rock & Roll Over tour jacket – $8,960.
Other Rock memorabilia sold at the auction included:
- Eddie Van Halen stage played and signed striped Charvel Art Series guitar from last performance with Sammy Hagar in Van Halen – $115,200
- Belt Mick Jagger wore at The Rolling Stones 1969 Hyde Park concert – $51,200
- Adam Clayton of U2 – Unforgettable Fire studio used and stage played, including Live Aid, Fender Jazz Bass – $25,600
