TOWN OF OSCEOLA, Wis. — Investigators say a faulty repair to a boiler led to a carbon monoxide leak that sent eight members of a Fond du Lac County family to the hospital.
Crews were called to a residence along County Road B in the town of Osceola early Wednesday morning on the report of multiple people with symptoms consistent with CO poisoning.
The children, ages 4, 7, 9, 12, and 17, were hospitalized, along with a 46-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman. All of them have been released.
Officials say the homeowner attempted his own repairs on the boiler, and that allowed the carbon monoxide to vent into the home.
