We are proud (ish) to name as this week’s Laura Lee & Cutter Weenie of the Week, Menasha Utilities and to a lesser extent WE Energies, hold on, let us explain.
There is a woman by the name of Samantha Burke who took to social media this week to complain about her energy bill from Menasha Utilities. Energy costs a lot, but this seems a little suspicious. Samantha’s house was a victim of the Tornado that destroyed the area back in July. Her house is currently bare bones and unhabitable, yet her energy bill has almost tripled. Menasha utilities said costs normally go up in summer, but you see Samantha’s air conditioner is literally gone, she’s got bare wires exposed in her house and has her electrical panel turned off, cause you know, bare wires are exposed. Menasha Utilities response to this? “that’s weird” After Samantha took to social media to air her grievances like it was Festivus, other people from the area also complained about above average utility bills and not just from Menasha Utilities, but also from WE Energies. And this news coming after WBS just had a meeting in Green Bay to explain their rate hikes. We know energy costs a lot, but Menasha Utilities and WE energies got some splaning to do, or it’s going to be Festivus for the rest of us with a lot of people quoting the great Jerry Stiller, “I got a lot of problems with you people.”
So for nothing saying customer care like pointing to “summer rates” when the customer doesn’t even have a house to power.
So for the tornado doing the damage and then then Menasha Utilities saying “hold my beer”.
So for the homeowner? Tornado damage, destroyed house, triple electric bill. I mean I know I don’t math well, but make that make sense.
We are sad to name these no longer excellent electric companies Menasha Utilities and WE Energies as this week’s Laura Lee and Cutter Weenie of the Week.
