Location: University of Wisconsin Green Bay -- 2420 Nicolet Drive, Green Bay, WI
Event Description: A birthday is a special day on the calendar for just about anybody—but it’s a particularly meaningful milestone to cancer survivors and their families and caregivers. The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of UWGB offers survivors and their loved ones a chance to celebrate all the additional candles on their cakes since diagnosis.
The first annual event, held at the Lambeau Cottage on April 19, 2013 from 12 p.m.(noon) until 12 a.m.(midnight), is also a way for the campus community to honor and celebrate the lives of local cancer survivors; and it reminds us that cancer doesn’t sleep, and neither will we until we find the cure.
Currently, UWGB Colleges Against Cancer is organizing Relay For Life and looking for teams to be a part of the evening long event. Campus and community members are invited to sign up teams of 8 to 15 people and to come celebrate on April 19. There will be live music, games, prizes and fun all night long for students, faculty, staff and their families. Participants are able to come to a portion of the event or to stay throughout the night and are asked to fundraise in advance to help support the American Cancer Society’s programs and mission.
